Last month's City "Vision Review" is one example of civic involvement. A working knowledge of our U.S. Constitution is quite another.
Thank you for the feedback and interest in civics.
Why the emphasis on OUR REPUBLIC; the answer is simple - CIVICS 101. Just because Elected Officials (appealing to the masses) claim we are a democracy, and Election Offices state voting supports our democracy; that does not make us a democracy.
Why do many folks say we are a democracy? A lesson in CIVICS 101 tells us sometimes the 1st VICTIM is the TRUTH.
PUBLIUS warned us about TOO MUCH DEMOCRACY!
Article IV Section. 4.
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.
Hmmm... PUBLIUS was very specific and clear on the limited role of a federal government and the ill effects of democracy.
